Many describe the low brass section as the “soul” of the band or orchestra. A good tubaist can add so much depth and good intonation, a good euphoniumist can add amazing colors and a good trombonist can add all the fire that you need!
Mrs. Michelle Amosu Thomas’ students will master all the techniques necessary to become a great low brass musician. On the way, students learn basic music theory, (including how to read music), and musicianship skills. Students will build strong technique through scales and various exercises.
Mrs. Terri Ingram’s students will work under the guidance of a classically trained instructor to learn specific techniques related to playing the French Horn. Attainable levels through hard work and mastery: basic horn playing, District Honor Band/All-State preparation, college audition preparation, horn repertoire including Kopprash, Kling, Mozart, Strauss, Beckel, orchestral excerpts, and many more. Additional playing opportunities include: Brass Quartet/Quintet, Horn Duets, Ensemble playing
Students are given the opportunity to perform solos in The Music Garden recitals, which typically are held in December and May.
